You will get many time the odds like 1-3 and its almost rare to get odds like2-1 and this will be in specific scenarios as well. You can receive 2-1 odds when you and your opponent checked off the flop. In this condition the big blind will agree at 2-1 or paying $4 for a port of $8 odds. When you have other players in hand as well the odds will step up to 3-1 and 2-1 is the worst odds you can get in fixed limit. You can also play open ended straight draw with 2-1 odds.

If a player has 7 or 9 draw then he would like to get incorrect odds to follow when the opponents bets. However player can still get 3-1 upon hitting draws. If the third player is in your hand then you might be offered 5-1 or 4-1.

If now and then you select bid over river, you likely to get more or less money in long term. The important thing is to learn that every bid should effective as other players also have odds to draw to hands.
To become a winning player in fixed limited  you have to make sure that you have correct odds for  selecting draw and it is unlike no limit where every time you  attempt to win hand.
